My line rental etc at the moment is with BT and my internet is with O2.
If I change my phone line to another provider will this cause issues with my O2 broadband?

Also, what is the process and can anyone recommend any better providers then BT and advise why they're better?

Primus user here. £7.99 for line rental incl unlimited evening and weekend calls to landlines.

If you swap to their phone line your broadband gets switched to their new tarriff which isn't unlimited.

Exactly the same situation as me. I wanted to dump bt because they are a disgrace of a company (Though I will recommend them for infinity). O2 wouldn't take my line rental without upgrading my contract, so I was like, fine, stuff you, don't take my money, I will go with Primus instead

Stick with BT, it'll save you so much pain in the long run.

employee? Please explain.

Everything that happens with BT is pain. Infuriating pain. I still read people saying they have to take 2 hours out of their day to deal with BT in any form. Anything from ordering, billing and support or faults. You name it. BT will cause you to put your fist through the wall.

Don't forget though that BT line rental has now went up to £14.xx.

not had any problems with openreach after changing line over to sky from BT and the broadband is much better. There should be no changes if you change to someone else, the only thing that could change is a longer time to get openreach out if there is a problem with the line compared to if you stick with BT...

That must be a long wait then. We've ordered a "new" line with BT (there is already one at the house which BT claim is not theirs and they can't tell us who it belongs to so they are making us pay £130 connection fee). Order date was 22/11. The earliest date Openreach could deal with the order is 20/12.....almost a month!

We were going to go with O2 but they told us they can't supply a line (even though the exchange is LLU and they will happily provide us with Broadband) so we were actually told the easiest way is to get the line through someone else and then switch it over to O2!!

I just dont want my internet to drop simply for changing my phone from BT to someone else.
Do they mess with the exchange at all? Being on LLU would this be just left alone & nothing at all would happen to my internet?

you could possibly have some downtime, though I'd guess it would be half an hour tops on the day of change over...

leaving BT best thing i ever did. i now have my line rental and BB with zen. no downtime (had been on zen bb with BT line rental prior to that)

if anything ever goes wrong it is a nightmare if your isp and line rental are different companies as they will both blame each other and you go round in circles. BT customer support has to be experienced to be believed.it is a nightmare

//just realised i used nightmare twice there - BT have traumatised me....
