I purchased private plates for my car and had a change done to the documentation online. As soon as DVLA informed me of the change (V948), I called my insurer, who said that they cannot make the change on the policy as I am a new driver and they have no viable policy option to support the change. They said that any changes will void the policy. I asked them to hold off from making the change, as it is hard to get coverage for the car I drive being a new driver.
My only option is to wait for the new V5c with personal number plates information to arrive, and then swap the car back to the original number.
The physical plates on the car remain showing the original number (I did not even have time to swap to new plates though I ordered them)
If I do not drive during this period, wondering if it'll be okay insurance, tax and on other legalities while the twice temporary swap in numbers for the car takes place.
Will the tax change happen twice as well?
I'm confused and any advise is appreciated.
