When you're changing the processor on a laptop, you gotta look at a couple things beyond the socket type - what power the cpu requires and the heat involved.. If your laptop is available pretty much the same but with the desired processor, then heat probably won't be an issue, but if you're putting in a processor that produces more heat than your lappy can cope with, then you could end up with a less stable laptop. Also, if the CPU needs more power, you could end up needing a new power supply for your laptop - which I'm sure isn't cheap!
I was looking to replace my Sempron 3000 for a Turion, but the above put me off It's possible though - just make sure you do it right and don't overlook the heat/power thing!
u need to find out what FSB the motherboard can do. You can get 400mhz fsb and 533mhz fsb chips, best you will be able to get is the 2.1GHz pentium m, socket 478+479, but at over £200.....
