I am paying a lot more than normal for a good service, but business has been slow so I am looking for a "cheaper" provider with a good track record and it looks like Plusnet may be the right one. I would like to ask if any here know of Plusnet and just how good they really are; I have looked online for reviews, but checking here too. (I would be getting the phone service and internet package with 60gig dl monthly for ~£32 a month (anytime phone service)).

TY

Been on plusnet for a year. If you go for one of the capped download bundles you just have to be aware that iPlayer or heavy VPN usage can eat into it quite quickly - but there is no cap between midnight and 8am.

Service has been rock solid all year, their website and phone support is decent quality.

But... the last two days have been a bit rubbish, am getting < 1Mbs when normally its 6.5 and dropouts on the net connection (not the ADSL). This is not the usual from them though, and it could be down to the usual New Year "Lets go break the internet for everyone" groups doing their thing again... If its still rubbish early Jan I'll call em up.

Also the fact you can signup without a fixed term contract is a definate plus.

I would use 60GB in about 3 days

That is tiny!

I'm with plusnet 120GB usage a month, not capped between 12am-8am, so you'll be wanting a download scheduler to download all those 14GB games like Battlefield 3 lol. I'm supposed to be on a 13Mb connection and I average steam downloads at about 1.1MB majority of everything else downloads about 500kbs+

Dad moved from Metronet to Plusnet... Same company and they royally ****** it up. He was getting a steady 900kbs+ before and now its dropped to less than 50kbs. Can't even buffer a youtube clip properly!

He is trying to get it sorted out but I think because he has moved within the company it'll take a long time :/

He should be thankful though! The only other option was Sky!

My parents were on Plusnet for years and it seemed to be fine for them until recently when they were getting connected very rarely - they've now moved to BT and it seems to be pretty good again. However in all fairness to Plusnet it might not have been their fault, it could have been the (non-Plusnet) router failing after several years but I haven't really tested it to prove a point, it didn't seem worth the effort when they were happy changing providers.

TBH plusnet is a bt company now so they will employ the same or similar traffic management as an alternative sky is doing free broadband for a year. I guess plusnet will be better then BT for its uk support

I am on the Plusnet package you are looking at, I have been with Plusnet since the days of dialup and to be honest I would not consider moving away. Pricing is good and CS is superb.
Highly recommended.
