changing short name (home name)

Hi guys,

just put a fresh install on my macbook and didn't realise my short name was not what i wanted until i had finished setting up the computer.

So is there anyway to change the home directory name?

That's an old article since it only applies to Mac OS X 10.3.9 or earlier

You can try following this article: Changing the short username in Leopard

It seems that the best fix for the OP is to do another fresh install in order to avoid any future problems

I used the wrong short name on a fresh install. It was annoying but the easiest way to sort it is doing the install again.

I don't think it's possible to change the short name. Why not just make a new account, then delete the old one?

meh, i'll leave it then, put too much time into making it look fancy for me to go through it all again.

I always use "Home".. generic, but it saves mucking about
