Changing the colour of your car

Do you want it in another standard colour? Flog it and buy another in that colour. Miles eaiser and cheaper.

Don't be so soft, spend half a day T-cutting and polishing instead and save yourself a fortune and a load of hassle :)

Dont think insurers would be bothered, its not like it makes any difference to the performance nor does it mean they have to pay out more if you crash it...

if your doing it the same colour then i doubt the insurance company will care.
if you change colour then they will care, as would the dvla

Best advice! T-cut does wonders for faded paint... just all that is required is a bit of sweat and lots of circular hand movements (sounds a bit iffy ;) )

I t cutted my neighbours faded red (i say red, it was pink at the time) which is a similar red to yours and t cut brought it back out beautifully... Then give it a good wax/polish to keep it looking that way!

My insurance weren't bothered at all when I resprayed my R5GTT metallic purple.

the 2 people i know who have done a different colour made sure the insurance added it.
thankfully they did, as one of them had something poured over roof / bonnet and boot (with spashes on windows n doors)!

If you just want the colour restoring, get a bodyshop to give it a good machine polishing. It will give a better result than T-Cut by hand and should only cost about £50.

I made sure my insurance knew about it and also informed the DVLA so my V5 showed purple instead of black. I didn't want to give an insurance company *any* reason not to pay out in the event of any claim

always the best answer.
also doubles up as the only reply to " my car hasn't got (insert option here) so i'm gonna have it fitted myself)

When I bought my mondeo the paint was a bit old and faded.

Here's what to do. It will probably take about a day and a half mind but well worth it.

Wash the car.
T-Cut entire car.
Clay bar entire car.
Wax entire car.

It is a real elbow grease job. I bought an electric mop but it is a bit crap. I think I will just flog it on ebay.

Elbow grease is much harder but the finish is about 10x better.
