Any 1 done this befor?
Had a customer drop his laptop of today and the backlite wasn't working, turns out it was the inverter gone, so i have ordered a new one. Then i came across spare tubes for tft's!!! hmm dont like the look of opening up a tft!

Just out of interest really, any 1 done that?

Suprised thats even possible. The furthest i've gone is removing a TFT from the plastic bezel - they seem to be pretty sealed!

It's certainly possible and I've seen it done to an extent where the backlight is fairly even and thus usable afterwards.

I've had to do it before, but on a very old IBM laptop screen rather than anything new and valuable, it's really not worth doing, especially if/when dust gets in between the sheets of the screen. They're mostly for sale because they've been removed from cracked screens :D
