Changing the type of games I play

Hello,

I used to play Battlefield constantly to the point where I was playing it and not enjoying it, I've recently discovered indie games and just finished Fire Watch which was such an incredible game that I want to find more of the stuff I haven't tried before.

I have played loads of games over the years and more recently I finished the Witcher 3 and Just Cause 3 both of which I liked for different reasons.

Because Steam has such a vast library of games can anyone recommend anything worth picking up before the sales finish?

I've got Vanquish, Quantum Break and This War Of Mine to play but want a couple more to take me up to the summer. Maybe an RTS or a building type game?

Thanks

Prey is for sale on Steam at the moment @ half price, although I got it from CDkeys.com for £10.99. Not sure if that's the cheapest it's been on Steam but I can't imagine it getting much cheaper in the short term. It got some decent reviews with some saying it's a return of the feel that Half Life brought, but your mileage may vary.

Hmmm difficult without any ideas. Here's some I'd look at

Anno 2070 - not the latest game in the series, but the new one is different. Economic strategy based game with some military strategy thrown in.
Don't Starve - A stylistic survival game. Die. Build. Die. Craft. Die. Explore. Die. Fight. Die. Starve. Die. Multiplayer Version - Don't Starve Together, sold separately.
Factorio - Doesn't look like much, but it's pretty engaging. Build logistic systems to create resources for you little guy to defend himself from aliens and launch a rocket. Still in dev IIRC.
FTL - Roguelike game where you're fleeing from an enemy fleet. Explore systems to get new resources (maybe), fight your way to the enemy flagship.
Grim Dawn - Action RPG, think Diablo if you've ever seen it.

Not on steam, Guild Wars 2. Free to play MMO with some minor limitations compared to a paid version. TBH, I just like wondering around the world.

Try Abzu, nice chilled out game.

Some other good indies/indie style games (in my order of how good they are):
1) Ori and the Blind Forest
2) Bastion
3) Abzu
4) Firewatch (but you have played it)
4) Trine 1 & 2
5) Inside

Quantum Break was a good choice - quite different with an amazing story. I second the Bioshock games if you haven't already went there. The following is a list of indie game I played and enjoyed this year, all are quite unique and should offer something different from the norm:

Blackwood Crossing
Fran Bow
Downfall
The Cat Lady
What Remains of Edith Finch
Never Alone
Monochroma
The Park
Firewatch
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Conarium
Event 0
Aragami
Layers of Fear
Lifeless Planet
The Stanley Parable
Stories Untold
Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries (this game has it's flaws but it only last 2 hours and is still pretty cool)

Some older games that still absolutely hold up:

F.E.A.R
Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines
Singularity

And lastly you should check out Hellblade: Senua's sacrifice - my game of the year.

Wow so many of them look great, I'm definitely getting Abzu, Inside and what became of Edith Finch

I've played all the Biuoshock games, man I regret making this thread now I'm going to spend a small fortune!

Thanks!

I enjoyed both Fire Watch and Abzu.

If you like puzzle games then I would recommend The Witness at it's current sale price, I bought that and The Turing Test in this Steam Sale.

Do you like Tower Defence games? Defense Grid and Kingdom Rush are a steal at their sale prices.

Sounds like you would benefit from Humble Bundle Monthly. I'm not signed up to it but seems like they "give away" quite a varied selection of games every month

Another vote for CrackFactorio, assuming you don't plan on doing anything with your life!

Also The Long Dark is pretty good if you like slightly more realistic and unforgiving survival games
