So, I've been questioning whether I should do this or not, came to the conclusion of, 'one life, do whatever'.
So, I bought the things I would need:
- 5mm (ID) tubing, Antec uses 6mm on theirs, but I heated the tubing and pushed it on the barbs to give an extra tight fit.
- Blood Red ready mixed coolant
- Some clips, which were unfortunately way too big.
So, if you're not familiar, this is the Kuhler 620.
Now I'll be changing the tubing for this cooler, and changing the cooling liquid.
This is the tubing I used
The tubing is 5mm (ID)
Not an incredible difference in size
I took the Kuhler off, and began taking off the tubing. I'd never need this tubing again, so I just hacked it off with the nearest thing possible.
Once the tubing was off, I cleaned out the radiator, and then submerged it in a tub of the new coolant.
After all the bubbles had gone, I then passed the coolant through the pump and tubes, I did this by just sucking through the output hose, not recommended. The fluid is non toxic, but stains and tastes unpleasant.
I then turned on the pump, let all the air bubbles disappears, connected it all properly and that was it!
I did about 2 hours of leak testing and there wasn't a drop, I could see how well the tubing was on, as I had heated it with boiling water to get it on the barbs. I'd highly recommend buying a size too small!
After all of that, I'm impressed with the looks, and somethings made a difference, as CPU runs a few degrees cooler.
