My little boy as miss keyed when putting his name into a laptop and we didn't notice for a few week.

the laptop was setup with an offline account but as since been linked to an Microsoft account.
genuinely the only thing i can think to do is nuke the laptop but i dont really was to do that just for a typo.

is there any way to just change the user name

If it's been linked to a Microsoft account then likely the option to change username will be greyed out in Control Panel -> User Accounts.

If that's the case then you need to login to the Microsoft account webpage and update the details there.
