Chargeable Download Content

The main problem that makes DLC look bad is the devs who are using it as a tool to scam their customers. If people didn't buy it, it wouldn't be a problem, but idiots buy the stupid MW2 map packs for £12, I don't get that.

Another 'bad' example is this upcoming one:

In the good old days, this would be a selling point of the game itself. Now, it's chargeable and more likely to make me not bother with the game.

Meh, i don't doubt they rushed the game out and once all the distribution was under way, started making DLCs that took them 5 minutes. Even if its stuff they should've put into the game its too late for that... at least Dragon Age offered it with the game.

Meh, if the MW2 boycott proved anything, people are full of ****. Its quite a leap to believe half the people that said no were not just jumping on the bandwagon and would buy it anyway.

Very true mate.

I totally agree. If no one bought it they would see there was no money in it and stop trying to rip us off. The only way to stop the crap DLC is by refusing to buy it.

I did think the pc community would be a hard nut to crack for rip off DLC as its allot easier to pirate DLC on the pc and we have large modding communities. I guess the console mentality is spilling over to the pc and people are used to decent DLC so when a rip off DLC arrives on the pc the fuss isn't as big as it should be.

That's the biggest problem with more DLC, IMHO - less incentive for developers to include modding tools. :(

the new wrc game has a dl pack of group b cars coming out on release day hopefully free if not why not just put it in game.
no 400 points on xbox n 4.99 on playstation network.why ?

It wasn't that long ago I noticed DLC on a wednesday for a game that wasn't out until Friday! I can't remember what it was but have a feeling it was one of the EA sports range.. that would put me off buying the game for a start.

most likly they wern't finished, or didn't pass QC when the game went Gold.

games go Gold awhile before they are actually released, to give them time to manufacter and sort out distribution, etc, once they go gold, no changes can be made to the game that is released.

so they most likly continued to work on broken things to release them when the game is released, giving them more time to perfect/test them, etc

Then whoever made that rule is a ****ing idiot.

Piracy is one of the reasons why the DLC is expensive in the first place. With so many people playing the games for free, the developers try and get as much money as they can from the actual honest paying customers.

It has nothing to do with piracy.

What a stupid thing to say  You think they can go from a working build to being in the shops overnight? It usually takes around 6 weeks from going gold to being in the shops!

But anyway, dlc on release day is another no no in my book, unless it's free. The fact that they're charging it on the console doesn't sound good for us PC lot interested in the game :(
