Chase HQ

i loved this game :D
i think the best option would be to emulate the arcade version with mame

i just had a quick go after i saw this post and the graphics are still pretty good :)

They had a Chase HQ arcade machine at a pub near where I used to work :D but then that office closed :( Gotta catch those climinals.

I think I played Chase HQ 2 on the amiga. Maybe a SNES/Megadrive(?)
Was great when you got behind the vans and they threw boxes out at you.

Anyone ever play the sequel?

I only played v1 in the arcades, zx spec and the (horrible) C64 version :)

Was that the one where you could shoot out of the sunroof?

That version was even better IIRC :D

Yes. Come to think of it, I did actually by the cart version of it when they released it for the C64g :)

Anyway, I found the original posted that used to advertise the first game...

I have chase HQ 1, 2 and 3 on mame. The first one is the best one.

On the mame client I have it doesn't mention 2 and 3 as being supported. I best go and have a dig around for the roms!

2 is called special criminal investigation and 3 is called super chase - criminal termination

ahhh the memories!

getting Spectrum +2 flash backs......just under an hour to load in 128k mode and as said you got SPEECH!!!.....WOW!

as truly great game though, i used to waste hours on the arcade in Ilfracombe on it :)

Don't play the modern remake at the arcades, it's horrilbe, bad gfx that belonged to 10 years ago, shocking handling of the cars, slow, bad bad bad.

This desperatly needs a proper update on the PC, i'm suprised that no one made a mod for Most Wanted, that would do me

Had this on the Amstrad CPC 6128, one of the best 8bit games IMO. One of the dillemas was whether to use one your turbos to catch up with the criminal, or risk trying to save all 3 for the ramming session.

..... and little did we know how useful these skills would become later in life

"This is Nancy at Chase Headquarters. We've got an Emergency here!"

I thought the quality of the speech on the Amiga was amazing. Could never do mission two though.

Must have been pretty good on the Amiga, i only had my 128k spectrum at the time and to be fair they managed a pretty decent conversion on that.
Taito put out some great coinops in that era, Renegade, Operation Wolf/Thunderbolt, Growl were all great :).

I could probably dig out the actual cassette for the C64. Sadly the conversions were no where near as good as the arcade version.

I remember the others - Chase HQ2 was probably the best with the gun shooting rather than relying on the turbo to bash the criminals car.

God I loved playing this game when it first came out years ago in the arcades. Had it on my Speccy 48k when and then later on Atari ST - awesome game. One of my all time fav arcade games.

Ampeg - loved Renegade and the Op Wolf games - classics!
