CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G (6 cores / 12 threads, integrated graphics)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M AORUS Elite (micro-ATX, AM4)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2×16GB) DDR4-3200
Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 500GB NVMe SSD (PCIe 4.0)
Case: Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L (micro-ATX)
Power Supply: be quiet! Pure Power 11 500W, 80+ Gold, Semi-Modular
CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Stealth (included with CPU)

Usage - mostly for work, home use, programming, running lightweight servers, music and video (HD video quality and above)

Budget up to£600 or near

It is not bad for the usage, but there's a couple of things I don't like:
1. AM4 won't have much great upgrade potential compared to AM5 and since DDR4 is now expensive new, it isn't much cheaper.
2. The 5600G should be sufficient for the task, but the Vega IGP is old and outdated (no AV1 hardware support, for example).

Thanks for that ...can you recommend a AM5 motherboard or other components
If you have a look around, should be doable in budget, I think the CPU is the only part out of stock.

If you want a better case, you could go for a cheaper PSU, like MSI's A650BN.

The 8500G is a rather different CPU to the 8600G, but if you prefer lower power consumption over performance, that's an option:

Note that if you intend (or might be tempted) to buy a graphics card later, I'd recommend you ensure the case is big enough (GPU length restriction), the PSU can cope with it and consider a regular desktop CPU with the basic IGP (like 7600 or 9600) instead of the 8500G/8600G, since the G CPUs have PCIE lane restrictions/limits that the regular CPUs do not have.

The 8500G/8600G IGP is a bit newer and more capable, the 8600G can even do light gaming.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £621.84 (includes delivery: £11.98)

if you are looking for a micro atx case build or SFX type build and want great performance but for fairly good price you could consider the MINISFORUM BD795i SE ITX Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, 16 C/32. The only issue is processor is soldered on the motherboard so not upgradable, but its a full 16 core ryzen cpu in very compact form. Its almost same price as the motherboard+cpu mentioned above but you get many times more cpu performance.

You can build some very tiny but powerful builds with it if small form factor is a requirement. If SFX is not a requirement and you don't need the extra cores then the recommended build above is better, you can always upgrade the cpu in the future if you require more performance.
