slightly over but you insisted on nvidia. The AMD 6850 is £80ish and would be a wiser choice. I'm a big fan of the 460 and yes personally i prefer them over the 6850, not sure cuda support and HBAO lighting is worth the extra £40 though.

What do you think? If you didn't mind using the 6850 i'm sure you could get a budget Z77 mobo in the spec. It will have lucid MVP which gives a free boost to the GPU. Don't forget quicksync which will help you rip your movie collection to this "HTPC" even faster :)

i wouldnt mind a 6850 ive never really used amd gpus always nvidia.

tbh its not even a htpc its just for playing the odd game, so the cheaper the better...

but that looks good...

Cheaper CPU (no quick sync), better mobo though (Z77). More RAM too, you could drop to 4GB, this mobo has more than 2 RAM slots so you can add more later.

You'll have the final say in the best way to divide the budget. Hope this has given you some ideas :)

Thanks bud :)

Just to state that mobo only has 2 RAM slots, so if you put that 4GB of RAM in there is no room for anymore. That's why I had 8GB in the later spec, i'd prefer the i3 too in all honesty.

np :)

yeah, with a low cost system its all about balance, with a gaming side of things i'd prefer the i3 with 4gb against the pentium processors and 8gb.

^ Very nice as usual Hono :)

Thanks bud :)

You know how much I love the 460 but the 6850 at £80 makes more sense, was able to spec 8GB with it rather than 4GB with the nvidia GPU.

That SSD is sataII rather than sataIII so is slower than say a crucial M4, it is however much cheaper. At 120GB has ample room for the OS and a fair few games. Less capacity than the mechanical drive sure but the OS and games will load faster.....just a thought :) Oh and the OP gets free P&P which is nice :)
