hi.

Can anyone suggest were I can get a cheap £300-£400 desktop? I’m looking for something with an i5 or an equivalent AMD processor and not with integrated graphics. My old desktop is about 10 years old and its starting to struggle with the new Adobe suite.

I found this one at Dell is this about as cheap as ill get or would it be cheaper to build one?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Can you list the following components, make and model.
Case.
Psu.
Harddrives and optical drive, sata or ide?
What OS do you currently have?
That way we can see what can be reused.

You might also want to remove the link, as it is against forum rules to post links to competitors. Just a friendly heads up.

Sorry about the link.

Advent 3219

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz HT

Video Card: nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (128MB) 64bit

Motherboard: ECS SF2

The hdd are all sata and could prob plug the dvd drive in to the new mother board as well. Im ok for an OS also..

The PSU is 300watt. Not sure about the case but its just the standard case that came with the advent.

I had a look and found these components. How does this look and could I do better?

Also, Its not for gaming' I use a lot of Adobe produces and usually have 3 or 4 running at once, I render video and graphics a lot so out of the two processors, i5 and AMD 6 core bulldozer what one will handle the work load better?

Thanks guys.
