Hi all,

A friend of my mine is selling a Xbox 360 Core for £140,bought it a while ago, has been left unopened in his room (still got seal) .Wants to sell it, so he'll give me it for £140 if i want. Doesn't have the receipt though, so i wonder if i will have any warranty or not?

I wouldnt mind a 360 to play about with, but dont know if this is a good deal or not, do i really need the extra's in the premium to go on live etc???

cheers,

Digi

IMO you will get a core off the shelf for that price pretty soon, so no leave it well alone and the no reciept means microsoft will laugh at you

The shop should have it on there records still, a statement by law does not have to be provide at purchase, they may be able to print another one out - might ask a bank/credit statement to show when your mate got it

No they won't, so long as you get it registered. I lost my reciept and still got mine repaired. Just so long as your mate hasn't registered it (which I am guessing he hasn't since it is still in the box) and it is under a year old.

I have to agree though, recently Cores where avalible for £150 (limited time only) so I guess it will happen again.

How do i go about registering it then without a receipt?, also will live function fully without the HDD?

You will need a memory unit to save the gamertag and live account etc.

any other major functionality i will lose from not buying the premium then, if i buy the mem card?,

p.s. thanks to all who replies thus far! very quick. :D

one thing i dont understand is, how microsoft can still give you a years warranty without the receipt if they dont know how old it is.

just a case of trust???

thanks

They do know how old it is, each machine is stamped with a manufactured date and a serial number.

Granted, but we dont buy the machine the day it is manufacturered, some machines sre sitting in warehouses and stock rooms for months and months.

They give you a little bit on leniency, but 360's aren't stuck in warehouses aslong as you seem to think.

You are also supposed to register your s/n, however this is something Microsoft haven't enforced yet.

Got a brand new one just last week with a manufacture date of September last year so I guess it varies shop by shop how long they keep them hanging around in warehouses.

or offer him less, then you both win.
That's what I was thinking... £140 for a core isn't that great a deal. tell him you'll give him £100 for it - mate's rates and all that. Everyone's a winner.
