Trying to get the best I can for gaming around £400, already have the case.

I think the cards would be on par, maybe the 950 edging the 760 slightly due to better driver support. Besides, the 760 you linked is oos.

I think the i3 would also be a better choice for less money than the fx cpu you linked.

The card linked is on the B grade list at £89.99.

Is the i3 skylake better with higher ddr ram than the older haswell as it has 4 real cores?

The i3 is newer tech than the amd cpu and the 950 is newer tech than 760. The difference will be marginal in favour of the newer tech depending on situation (certainly true for gaming) and will do it more effectively as in less heat and less power consumption.

^ Z97 and a locked CPU? Pointless.

OP, have a look at this article: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-cpus,3986.html

Your CPU options in order increasing cost (IMO) should be:

AMD X4 860K (FM2+, £59.99)
AMD FX-6300 (AM3+, £82.99)
Intel i3-4170 (or similar, LGA1150, £85.99 on sale atm)
AMD FX-8320 (or 8320E if you can find it, AM3+, £119.99)
Intel i5 (£156-£225 depending on un/locked and gen)

What monitor have you got and what games are you into? This will help determine how much GPU power you need.

Finally, prioritise a SSD above all else.

I didn't take notice if it was locked or not, I just chose it over an i3 lol and from my experience of having a locked i3 4160 it's not that bad, nothing has needed more grunt, granted my board isn't a gaming one... if anything it will be my gtx 750

An i3 would probably be their better option for the price anyways locked or not

That's true. Reason I flagged it up is the Z97 is a premium, overclocking chipset. Most of the time a locked CPU might as well be paired with an H- or B- chipset (depending on the features needed), the Z- is paying money for something you can't use.

that is true, unless i miss it in the description i dont know whats locked or not lol, my i3 is locked, but didnt realise till i looked it up after purchase, not that it bothers me, the board has overclocking features, but didnt pay £475 if i wanted faster ;)..

the op probably best with an H then if not better cpu
