Cheap AGP Video Card

Hi everyone,

My 9700PRO has just given up the ghost, I think some of the RAM's gone awol. I bought this just as DirectX 9 came in and was hoping to wait till directX 10 came out before upgrading my video.

As my MoBo is AGP and the next system I buy will be PCI express I don't want to spend a lot on a vid card to keep me going till I can get a full system.

What cards would be a similar if not better spec than the 9700Pro these days (I'm guessing it's probably not as good as most cards out there these days).

go for something like a 7600gs u can get them for around 60 quid.

£60 is OK. I don't want to spend extra getting a card that's massively better than my old one, but i do need to use my pc for a couple of months and at the same time would like to play a few games.

Get a 2nd hand card & you have lots of choices.

ATI X700Pro, 9800Pro, 9800XT or Nvidia 5900 Ultra - slightly faster than a 9700Pro.
ATI X1600Pro, ATI X800GT, Nvidia 6600GT - are faster & newer choices.

All would be suitable replacements.

Remember some of the 6600le's and 6800le's can be unlocked so could be worth looking into. Remember and google them first to see if they unlock.
