Hi,

In one of the local shops I've found cheap amp - Eltax Acura AMP-70 and Gale 3010 speakers. Total cost - around £70.

Sadly Im in a hurry and I have to get it ASAP - so there is no time for fleebays etc.

So what do you think guys? Anyone heard or was using this amp and speakers? Shall I go for it or maybe instead of Amp and speakers I should get something like Creative GigaWorks?

Thanks!

I have an amp and speaker setup and tbh I have found it better than a normal PC setup.

If you have space for the equipment then I'd say go for it!

I disagree budget separates are crap sounding unless you carefully
match them you'll get an unforward muffled but good bass sound
for me better off getting a 2.1 for £50 much more crystal and clear punch
no doubt the audiophiles with their total inexperience of low end separates
and probably never even heard z4's or aego 2.1's
will be along in a while to try debunk my claims bet you if you listened
to say logitech z4 vs a separates system like the one you have mentioned
blindfolded you'd take the logitech.
I have gale mini monitors mkII and they are crap compared to the logitech.
I have around £1200 worth of separates downstairs and there's just no clarity
or crisp treble through the soundcard(there is from a cd player) because i didn't test them all together which is hard to do unless
you go to that crappy well known hi fi shop.Matching is so important.

Another thing I'd do is to make sure that your Amp is just a little bit too powerful for your speakers. Yes it means you could blow your speakers - BUT it means you're never likely to do this, as you'd have to turn your amp all the way up.

E.g. my amp=125W/channel, speakers = 95W }@4ohms. The amp is barely ever turned up past half way.

Thanks guys! I think that instead of getting budget separates something like Acustic Energy Aego M 2.1 will be much better. HiFi separates will have to wait till next proper payday:)

Yea and you can always use those for a future lcd tv
when you can afford a decent separates system
they are right about the lack of midrange on a lot of these
really comes down to how you listen to music personally i like to burn my cd's
and listen on the hi fi rather than on the computer 2.1 is great for games and films though and general media use.
