I think it's about time I got some speakers instead of just using headphones all the time. I have an old 4.1 set upstairs but there's too many cables and I can't be bothered to plug it all in. Too messy. So i'm looking for a new set of 2.1s so the cabling isnt too bad. Only real requirement is that the sound isnt stupidly tinny and bad at high volume. I'd like to spend around £30 really. My current sound is just some realtek thing since I can't be bothered to fix the audigy 2 IRQ problem.

Although I know nothing about them, this review that appeared on here not too long back seemed quite complementary:

Fall in under budget if you wanted something really cheap :)

Out of the sets around £30 sold here, I would say the Altec Lansing VS2221 are your best bet. Again, not from personal experience, but many reviews are say they are good and it's a good make.

Alternatively, a set of Logitech® X-230 could be obtained for about £30 elsewhere.
