Cheap and dirty fix

Hi folks - quick one as I'm at work :( .

My girlfriends ATI radeon (no model numbers available) has gone pop and I'm after a cheap replacement as a temporary fix.

The card has to be AGP and able to play EQ2 (low settings are fine).

I'm after something low price as I'll be upgrading my GTO2 when the mid range DX10 cards come out, so this replacement card will only have to last a few months.

New card is preferred and I'm leaning toward an Asus Geforce 6200 128mb which I've seen for ~£27.

Will this play EQ2 at a reasonable rate or does anyone have better suggestions. My maximum budget is £40.

Thanks for your time,

try getting a cheap one without turbocache as that will steal system RAM

a cheap 7300gt which doesn't do this can be had for ~£40

Dont touch the 6200, they suck....... an old radeon 9700 will still outperform the 6200, trust me..... i brought one..... and it couldnt run the most simple of games without looking like carp.

Get yourself something secondhand............ cheaper, and sinces its only a temp it would just be silly to buy brand new and pay more.

You don't get turbocache on agp, pci-e only.

a 2nd hand 9700pro/9800pro can be had for very little if you know where to look. :)

Thanks for the info so far.

Back from work and able to have a poke around. The card is a 9800SE so I'm looking at either a 9800 straight replacement or a 7600.

There is a 9800 pro on the popular auction site for about 30 squids I've got an eye on.

Cheers
