Cheap and simple ADSL/ISP recommendations?

I’m looking to sort out ADSL for my in-laws and wondered if anyone here could recommend an ISP/package.

Usage will be very low and will only be used for web browsing and email so not concerned by caps/limits. I’m guessing a 512k line would do but if a 1Mb or more could be had for the same price then that’s a bonus.

Only other requirement, other than cheapest possible, would be the option to pay up front as I’d like to sort the payments out so they have nothing to worry about.

I’ve been looking through adslguide.org all morning but their forums seem to contain more threads about problems rather than recommendations, so I thought I’d see if anyone here had any suggestions?

Thanks for any help. :)

With the wonders of CBC, the price to the ISP is more or less the same regardless of speed - so on most of the capped setups you're looking at up to 2Mbps (or 8Mbps, or 24Mbps).

Can't say I'd recommend Virgin though, horror to migrate away from for one, and they rank about as poorly as Tiscali...
Nildram PAYG's one suggestion, or Zen's 20GB Max. Enta have a 3GB peak/30GB off peak tier for £16.50 a month (up to 8Mbps) as well.

There's more to ADSLguide than just their forums too, though did you look at for example, this forum?

Eclipse's Flex service starts at £17.99 for the 512KB package, no limits, best customer service I've ever had from an ISP, easy to migrate, move house, plus has the benefit of being able to flex the line up to 2MB (if supported) for the occasional large download......go read about it:) Easy online ordering, or you can speak to a (gasp!) real person and do it. Their "Home" broadband packages are a bit cheaper, but have download limits set on them, like most other cheap packages.

Oh yeah, free connection, modem, and microfilters as well.

I have 2 connections with them, my barrack block on base, and my ex-missus's house, so I can keep in touch with the kids.
