Hi guys,

After a cheap upgrade for the mrs to run the odd app and play a little bit of wow.

I am completely out the game where graphic cards etc are concerned, as the last gaming rig I build had a 9700 Pro in it.

So she will need :

Mobo, CPU, Graphics card, and memory.

Hi there, do you have a budget in mind?

Also, will you be needing anything other than the tower and operating system - like monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard etc. ?

As it's just for WoW, I'd be tempted to get an Athlon quad core.
Hang on while I spec something up.

Edit:

As you specified no budget, I produced all the things you asked, for 300 pound. I think this would run WoW fine.

The Mobo supports XFire so if you need to upgrade in the future you can just whack another 5770 in it.

No real budget in mind as I am not sure what is realistic. Ideally less than £200.

But if its a case of £20 here or there on something gets a much better product, I'm not set in stone.

And nope I can salvage the Case/PSU/HDD and other bits from her existing PC, as they all got replaced more recently.

cheers for the help guys.

Thats not to bad mate, it would be used for our business aswell so I can take the VAT off (forgot about that) which brings it down a bit.

cheers again for the help.

No worries, and well without VAT that build above would be around 200-210 mark.

And the original one I posted is a pretty fast machine for 250 quid. Can also upgrade to a phenom II X6 or X4 in future. And to any future ATI cards + CrossfireX

+1 for Masons spec in post #5, with that budget you are not going to do much better.

The only thing I would change is strongly consider increasing the budget a touch and buy this graphics card. It really is worth the extra money imho, have a look at this comparison.

Also, may I ask what the make and model of the PSU in the existing PC is?

Its some Corsair 500W job, not very old, replaced it due to broken one and bought something hopefully future proof.

Sounds like it will be fine - even if its the CX 500 then it will be fine to power the above rig (whether you go for a HD 5770 or GTX 460).
