Cheap CPU advice needed

I'm looking at building up a cheap tower unit. Already got a spare case, HDD etc. Just need CPU and Motherboard.

Was wondering what preforms better, a socket 775 P4HT 3.0ghz (cheap off the bay) or a more up to date low end socket 1155 Celeron CPU like the G440 1.6ghz?
 
Think I'll order the G530. 1155 socket is the way to go so I can maybe upgrade it with a i5 or something along the line, as d_brennen says.
