Hello,

Currently own an ATI Radeon 6950 1024MB GDDR5 card, that I want to upgrade. It's really not doing GTA V any justice.

My only issue £££!

What would be a worthwhile upgrade that won't bankrupt me?

The less the better, but if I have to spend something like £300 to make a worthwhile upgrade then that's out the window!

Wait a few months and buy after the AMD release - either one of the cards new cards or an older one on offer. If you must make a purchase now, the 970 and 290x are both good choices!

Have a check on MM if you are a bit strapped for cash? I know everyone loves new parts, I'm the worst, I hate buying second hand! But if the budget is low then it's usually worth it, could pick yourself up a 280x or something for about £100.

Something like this? A bit cheaper than the £200+ 290x/970's

Just bought a brand new Sapphire Vapor-X 280X on the MM for £115.

I still have my Firestrike benchmarks from when I had an MSI 6970 Lightning.

3789 with AMD Radeon HD 6970
6592 with AMD Radeon R9 280X

It would be a huge increase on your 6950 which you could still sell for £40. Second hand the 280X is going for around £100 so a big gain for only £60.

used 7950 would be an decent upgrade. The extra vram is going to make a hell of a lot of difference + its about twice as quick. Could probably get one for £70.

I would get one of them cheap 290x if your PSU is up to the job. Depends on your CPU and ram though, if your gonna be bottlenecked by them then theres no point going nuts on the GPU and a 7950 might be a good option.

Like the other guys said, need to know your current components.

290xwhilst its on offer as there probably all going to be rebranded to 380x and go up to £300.

No matter what he has it will make an improvement.

U can pair a titan x with a pentium anniversary edition and will give amazing performance. Gpu is most important part for gaming upgrade the cpu at a later date if needed

If you got this from Gibbo's post, don't start parrotting it. They aren't going to release a rebranded card at more than the price of the gtx 970. That's assuming it is only a rebrand (which it may well be).

Perfect!

Whilst I seen the 290x on offer for £229 it's a bit steep at the moment, but if I can upgrade to the 280x for £60 that would be ideal!
