I'm looking for a relatively cheap CPU and motherboard to convert a busted PC into a file server, the CPU specification doesn't have to be that great, in fact I'd go for something older and slower if it's cheaper, i.e. E350 or AMD 760G/SB700.
The requirements are:
* integrated graphics (or takes an APU)
* 5x/6x SATA II and/or III
* RAID 0,1
* DIMM 240-pin RAM
The preferences (but not essential) are:
* low power and/or fanless CPU
* 2+ core
* small format (ITX ideal)
Something that could be got for below £100 would be fantastic.
Footnote: E350 Hudson D1/M1 motherboards with lots of SATAs can be got but without RAID, if I were using some flavour of Linux then could I use software RAID instead, I'd be interested to hear of any experience in this.
