I've been considering moving my harddrives out of my main rig and into a small low powered machine that I can leave permanantly. I've currently got a few decent sized drives that I can move over so just need the basics. So far I've specced up...

AMD Sempron 3200
512MB DDR2 667
Asus M2N-MX Motherboard
Antec NSK2480 case + 380W PSU.

That lot comes to about £110. I've got all the drives and software I need. Reckon that lot will do the job?

Not too sure on the case though, I'd like a small one ideally and that one seemed to be the only cheapish one that fitted the spec!

You might consider a NSK 3480.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that case, have just compared the dimensions and its not much bigger so might go for that! :)

Was just going to put the other case on its side behind my desk..

I do quite like Antec cases as well, have built a basic server for a company in one of those 6500s..

Might go for the 3480 as its slightly smaller than the 4480... Can always put the HDs in brackets and just put them in the 5 1/4 bays in it.

Also, this is extremely important if it will be used for file access often, espically if you throw those drives in RAID, get a UPS, just a small one that can turn off the computer when low on power, just make sure that data integrity is kept :)

Its not for anything overly important.. The main reason is so I can move the 3 large drives out of my system to drop the temps and free up space/power. :)
