My 75yr old dad has decided that he'd like to count his steps, he's very active for his age, but a complete technophobe!

Can anyone recommend a cheap band for him please? Cheers.

Yup definitely the mi bands in that budget though if his eyes aren't great he'll never read them but phone will have all the infos.

Mi bands last a few weeks, I have had a few for me and family all between 20-30quid.

If he would like more of a watchy watch the Amazfit GTR is priced well at 80-100ish, again battery is good for a few weeks though obviously 42mm has a smaller one that the 47mm.

Thanks for the replies. I've narrowed it down to the Honor Band 5 (£25) or the Mi Band 5 (£28), but just can't decide between the 2, and he's not bothered either way! :p

Any pros and cons between them before I take the plunge?

There could be a swathe of Galaxy Fit 2's on the 'used' market very soon (mine included) as Samsung have been offering them as gifts for new phone purchases. The RRP is £49 apparently so could be picked up for £30-40. Possibly a little out of your range.

Would it be much better than the other 2 options? I think for his needs, it would probably be too expensive.

They seem much the same, I have not used the Honor so can't comment to much on that but on the software side of the Mii band it also ties well into other hardware such as smart scales etc and this works well for tracking and will sync with google fit and strava etc should he take up some other things.

Doesn't offer anything over these cheaper bands but I do like the samsung health app, it can take data from all my sources like blood pressure etc and make nice reports to hand over to GP when I go which is nice.

I've ordered him the Honor 5, only because the strap looks more substantial, it'll be more than good enough for what he needs, thanks for the replies.
