Cheap / free New phones?

Is there any deals anyone knows of where I can get a very cheap / free mobile? My lads phone has packed in and I dont want to shell out too much cash when chances are it'll get lost / broken / traded for pokemon cards!!!!!

How much constitutes cheap here? Go to Carphone Warehouse and you can pick up a phone from about £25(including airtime) upwards. I seem to remember Tesco doing phones for £10 a while back.

You could also look in the small ads of your local paper or online auctions as well.
