Cheap/Free programme that is easy to make short cgi movies in?

Hi all,

was looking at taking this up as hobby but dont know where to start...

looked around and was told meya was best... then i saw price and though for something I know nothing about just no....

any way are there any free easy to use programmes out there to wet my apetite that are good? I know there are loads but would prefer to use a good one.

For something you know nothing about it, it's going to be a steep learning curve before you're making shorts.

blender might be free but the last time I used it, it was horridly clunky.

Might be worth a look, but it's very dated. I do however remember it being fairly simple.

If your a student you can get Maya and Max cheap ish -

Maya and Max has the most training available so its worth learning one of them, Blender is worth a shot but it could be really confusing for a complete beginner.
