Cheap gaming build

A friend of mine PC went kaput due to water damage. Basically need to spec a full ATX cheap build for him.

He will more that likely be gaming on a 32" Bravia 1080p TV as that what he had before, and he would like at least a i5 that could OC. Would ideally like a Red/Black theme. Budget would be about £500 not inc case and Windows.

Do you think it would be wise for me to buy him parts second hand and cherry pick or just buy new? Thanks

I think it would be great to get a better card in there, such as this - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-372-GI - which says 1 instock but no buy button. A better PSU (550W) would be needed for it.
 
Cheers, been looking around the MM and there has been some good buys of late. I could probably source a stonking system for him from there over a week or so. With him gaming on a 1080p TV he looks to be wanting to max out stuff like Farcry 4 etc, would a 290 be up to the job? Or would budget need to be stretched further
