After a bit of advise on a pc i'm making for a mate, He is taking my old 8800GTX and need to update the rest of his system as he is on AGP. He plays games and has always taken my old system when i upgrade, but i'm not going too this time.

How does this look, will it be ok with the 8800. or should i think about amd?

Yeah good point, was just thinking it would increase the price a lot.

However is pretty much the same price, how does it look? Memeory ok for that. and would that psu be upto it along with the 8800?

Much better.

Maybe not blow 30quid on a cooler when the budget is that tight, could get a 4gig memory kit with the money saved.

the phenom 2 only adds a few fps in games over the athlon 2 (between 2 and 7) so i'd advise swapping that out

edit: get rid of the cpu cooler and upgrade to a 4gb set of ram, this one would do Geil Value 4GB

Then get your second spec choice.

Buy additional ram later.

Edit. An extra 6pounds will get you a corsair 400w cx psu, although either will be ok.

So you have to use the VGA cooler. I would ditch the aftermarket CPU cooler if that's what it takes to stretch to the Corsair Power supply that MonkeyKing specced. Not saying the OCUK one is total crap but the Corsair is a known high quality entry level power supply.
