Cheap gaming rig < £300?

Looking for a spec for a motherboard, RAM, CPU and graphics card for less than £300. My brother is looking to build a gaming rig, but that's his max budget.

Is that enough to get something decent?
 
Well, he's probably going to be playing the latest games, so if it's not going to be good enough to run them on decent settings... then he might have to rethink. So say stuff like Crysis 2 and The Witcher 2.

If it's just the above then it's possible to put together an i3 setup with a 5830. But if it's a full gaming rig, case, hard drives, OS etc then definitely not for £300, possibly second hand though.
 
Its well over I know but you really should aim for no lower than this. You can search around for better prices on these parts which may bring it down by around £10-20.



Edit: didn't read the op properly.
 
Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer. He only needs the components specified. No case, no hard drive, no OS, pretty sure he doesn't even need a power supply.

Another option but the motherboard is out of stock so you may have to look around. I'm sure you could find ram cheaper elsewhere.
 
 
My 9800GT still chuggs along even at 1080p :D Some reduced settings but nothing majorly noticeable.
Just be aware that some settings have to go off with the less you spend. To keep good Framerates.
