Hi,

Have been asked to build a cheap PC and will be mainly used for school work and the odd game.
I beleive the only games there kid plays is PubG & Fortnite @1080p so nothing too heavy.

Budget left is around £180 but a PSU is also needed out of this (recommendation on this would be great too)

cheers

you should have access to the members market as you just about meet the requirements. If you want the most bang for your buck then buy second hand, a GTX1060 6GB if you can or RX580 8GB ( RX 580 would be my preference) would give you a card that can play almost any game at 1080p cards. But this mean stretching you budget by another £40 for a PSU. It certainly gives you expandability as kids will quickly want to migrate to other games and those cards will give you that option. Maybe even put a post up in the wanted thread. Its certainly worth the effort in searching for a good second hand card and little extra for PSU, it gives you a much better card.

also AMD are about to release a new polaris gfx card, a update to the RX series of cards, soon so if waiting is possible they maybe wait a little you might find some deals on the RX580 and cheaper prices second hand even. But some reports have said they are only releasing them to system vendors, at first anyway. There is some uncertainty on what is really happening.

but if those two are the only games they play and stretching the budget is difficult, you could get away with 1050TI for about £150 brand new or even a £1060 3GB would also be a option.

cheers guys,

I'll take alook for a 570/80 ... think a 1070ti will be a bit too much.

I take it a 450-500w PSU is enough for either card and an i7 2600, 8GB RAM?

What was the original budget and what CPU etc was used? Because an AMD 2400G with good ram could have being sufficient with a B450 board.
At least for Fortnite. PubG needs very beefy GPU and more than 4 cores.

Budget was only £300, I grabbed a Dell workstation off the bay incl fully activated w10 licence, 250gb ssd 1td hdd ... total was just over £124 and have given them my old Corsair 540 case as the Dell case was a bit battered.
Power Supply is no good as it only has 24 pin, CPU power and a single sata power cable.

Yea that will be plenty.

Cheers mate.

I am considering a 1080p gaming build for my boy, after a fair bit of research I decided a GTX970 would fit the bill perfectly. I know these go for around £80 in the MM, I bet its similar on 2nd hand sites.

I have just built a similar system for my lad based around the 2600 bundle, (with 8gb ram due to budget) adding a 1060(6gb) which performs similar to the to 970 and it's a great I certainly have no regrets, my son loves it.

Have just used this in a build ^^ its a good looking card, was surprised actually, it looks and feels more expensive than it is. And seems to do the job

They are, they are been sold at a loss, just getting rid of them as no one really buys 570 any more unless its been given away......

670 and 680 incomming? ;)

No we just kill of products that either don't make us enough money or make no sense to continue selling.
AMD have no new products incoming on VGA or certainly nothing to be excited about anyway.

good price on that 570, but to get a psu as well then you can buy a used 570 for £120-130, dare i say it i saw 6gb msi 980ti for £120 lol assuming that wasnt a incorrect model typed or a 970 from £90 or an R9 290 assuming you buy models that are no more than 300mm.

just for reference, my gtx 660 with athlon 860k plays fortnite on high settings very well at over 45-60fps and your intel i7, hell an i3 is better than my processor, i havent bothered buying Pubg yet, but thats a more demanding game anyways, the point of this part is you could buy a gtx 1050 or rx 560 and play well, just have to adjust for pubg.
