My mate is after an inexpensive graphics card that will play games like Fahrenheit and the like, would something like the HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon 9550 256MB be any good for what he is after? Bearing in mind he doesn't play that many games on his machine and those that are played are not graphic intesive in the slightest.

Best budget car at the moment is probably the 7300GT with GDDR3 memory (not one of the much slower DDR2 models).

8 pixel pipelines and I think 3 vertex units.

Roughly equal to a 7600GS in terms of performance but cheaper.

These replies are totally overcooking the needs of this guy.

If Farenheit is the most graphically intensive he'll be playing then I'd say anything other than a 9800pro second hand is silly.

My reply wasn't. The 7300GT GDDR3 is the best budget buy out at the moment for PCI-E however as the op requires AGP then I would agree a 9800pro (or even a 9700pro) would suffice.

A 6800GS/GT would obviously be better but they don't half require a premium at the moment.

True, that would be the cheapest option, but also no resolutions were stated, which could affect the choice of card.

Still the 9800 Pro is a stonking second hand card, you can't go wrong.

Hi folks,

I am trying to source a graphics card (agp) for my nephew. He is looking to play the likes of Pro Evo 6. The 9800 pro seems to be going for around £30-£40 on ebay. Any specifics to that card that I should look out for eg., all in wonder, 128/256, etc..,

He is looking to spend only around £50ish, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

128 is the only one worth bothering with, AIW just has extra video in I think... not sure.
