I’m trying to put together a cheap home PC. I already have the following graphics card and PSU that I will use in the new PC

  • ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 512MB GDDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card
  • Corsair Builder Series CX 430 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply Unit

I've picked out the following components to complete it.

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C8 1333MHz Dual-Channel
AMD A4-5300 3.40GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Dual Core Processor
MSI A55M-E33 AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard
Zalman T1U3 Mini-Tower USB 3.0 - Black
LG GH24NSB0 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

As this is my first build I’m looking for some advice on whether I need to change any of the above.

Budget £150
Thanks

Yes, I have a SSD for the OS and then a separate HDD for storage. I also have a copy of windows 7.

I really just needed someone to OK the components for me to see if there was anything I'd missed or if there were any better alternatives for a similar price.

This processer is really slow. I bought it a few weeks ago for a relative and it takes about 40% of the CPU power to open word. If you can try to go with something more powerfull.

If I get the processor above for now, what are my options like for upgrading the processor at a later date?

Am I likely to have trouble getting a FM2 type processor a year or two from now?

I was looking at price more than anything, but i like the idea of being able to easily upgrade the processor at a later date.

Would these be suitable replacements for the AMD board and CPU? Will they work ok with the other components?

Intel Pentium G2120 3.10GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail

Asus H81M-K Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard
You can't put an 1155 processor in an 1150 motherboard unfortunately, here's the fixed equivilant:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Pentium G3220 3.0GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £41.99
1 x Asus H81M-E Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £37.99
Total : £89.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

You could also possibly get away with using the cheaper Celeron as you wouldn't be using the integrated graphics.
