Hi

I am currently with site5 and it expires in 2 days, I am considering the £7.50 a month package that is seen on the homepage. However I am wondering if tehre is anything cheaper then this, I have looked at hosting deals on ebay and cant really see the catch, just wondering if you guys have any suggestions for cheap hosting?

Thanks

TSO Host. Top quality, i got the £2.99 a month package which gives me 2.5GB DIsk Space & 10GB Bandwidth.

Visit there site for more details.

I forgot to add I also need this to host three websites, via add on domains would work I think, would these be ok for this?

Also do you know what is wrong with the ebay hosting?

www.dreamhost.com

500 GB Disk Storage
5 TB Monthly Bandwidth
$5.95/month

Also the promocode on the front page gives $110.10 off your order.

I haven't had any problems with them yet after a year or so.

Would definately echo that. TSO have been a great host for me for over 5 months now.

I have used Dreamhost to run a Ruby On Rails site backed with a mySQL database for about a year. My server has been pretty slow on some occasions, so will probably move to a different host in the near future.

But I can't really complain. The support has been pretty good. They moved me onto a faster mySQl server when I reported problems and they answer support emails.

Dreamhost are crap.

5TB of bandwidth and several hard drives for data storage, for $5.95 a month, of course.

You'll be lucky to get that in a dedicated server.

depends what you want. If you want a play thing based in america where you can dump stuff on then dreamy might be OK.

on the other hand if you think that it could develop into something more substantial then I'd go with a UK host. There are some good ones knocking around. Check OChostreview.

If you are running a web app - then I've heard good things about http://www.slicehost.com/

This is the next level up from shared hosts, before you hit dedicated servers. You are getting a virtual machine with a set-aside amount of RAM, so you app can stay in memory.

Slightly overkill for three websites I feel. Also based in the USA which wouldn't be great for a UK (assuming) audience.

Support have been replying to my tickets within 10 minutes.
I have had only had a few problems over the year I've been there and they were sorted very quickly.

I can't see why people think they're crap.

I guess it depends on what you are hosting. I have a Ruby on Rails app, with a mySQL database and both servers are pretty heavy loaded. As a result the site can run pretty slow at times.
