It's finally time to upgrade from my 19" to a 24" but I have fallen by-the-by with monitors ever since I purchased my current one - Dell 1905FP 20ms version.
I do a pretty equal amounts of coursework (docs, spreadsheets and now some programming), browsing and video watching (DVD, iplayer etc) but want a monitor that is better for video playback than anything else - I don't play games. Colour quality and continuity is more important to me than response times so long as it doesn't adversely affect video playback quality. As I say, I have lost touch of current monitor tech and quality, but I can't be having with any colour banding, flickering (colour changes?), hatching etc, if these are still problems. Viewing angles aren't hugely important. I feel I have been spoilt with my current one as to my uninitiated eye the viewing angles are great and the colours awesome - if it wasn't for the space I would stick with it to be honest. Also, dead or lazy-pixel wise, a panel that is pretty reliable for none or manufacturers who'll replace if any are present - I know some can live with them but I can't.
Budget wise, preferably sub £300 and definitely less than £350. I like Samsung's and Dells but I am open to other manufactures. It's a tall order but I am sure you fine upstanding people will be able to help out
