Large, hi-res, cheap Korean monitors are all over auction sites - the problem being they are sent from South Korea. Does anyone know if/when we're going to see a UK distributer(is there one already?)? Of all my computing hardware the monitors have proved the most unreliable which is OK when you have a 3 year swap-out warranty, not so good if you have to deal with South Korea.

If they were available from a UK distributor they wouldn't be so cheap.

You'd have to add 20% VAT on top of the price for a start.

They'd also have to factor in the cost of supporting a warranty.

OcUK did look into selling these but:

Were leaving it because right now were not willing to sell these due to them basically having no warranty.

As shipping faulty panels back to Korea is not an option, so any faulty ones we sold or took back, we'd essentially have to skip them or try to repair, all of which is very expensive.

As were an Etailor we can't just sell them with no warranty at a crazy cheap price like Ebay sellers are.

As such were happy to leave for now as some people are willing to take the risk of having no warranty essentially, but at the same time the value is very good if you get a working one.

But like I say I am in discussions to see what is possible.

OcUK ended up selling the DGM IPS-2701WPH.

Currently £380 but sometimes on offer.

It was the 30" models that caught my attention, cheap but cheerful. :)

Hi there

What price are you seeing?

We are looking at a value 30" IPS and even though much cheaper than DELL, its not what I'd consider cheap at all, so what price are you seeing?

Of course anything we sell will be backed by a full warranty. :)

I'm seeing £350 + VAT/import fees, which makes it £430ish. Not as much of a bargain as the £210/£260 after VAT 27" models IMO (hence why I bought a 27" last year) but enough of a saving that I would seriously consider one over a £1000 Dell or £800 Hazro, heck you could even buy a spare in case one dies out of warranty and be around the same price as a single 30" Hazro.
Note this is not me knocking on your prices because you get what you pay for with Dell etc in terms of warranty/CS, stand quality and so on, they're aimed at totally different markets after all :)

Perhaps I should have said relatively "cheap" for a 30". As far as I'm aware the South Korean sellers are using relatively lower quality panels i.e. more chance of a faulty pixel - but if the price is low enough people don't care. I could live with the odd dead pixel on a cheapo 30" display(that's probably sacrilege to the hardware buffs on these forums).

You can buy a pixel perfect model if you are willing to cough up the extra cash.

What is 'relatively cheap' in actual currency? ie pounds.

I bought a 27inch PLS 2560x1440 for £203

Ill be posting pictures when it is here.

Should be here this afternoon.

I HOPE

Can't find any that cheap . Edit: duh, yes I can. I'm looking into taking a punt on a S Korean version since even the £500 Dells seem to be a punt anyway at the moment.

Some are reported to able to overclock as high as 120hz.

If you check some of the flebay buyers they have an option for Square Trade warranty.
