I've recently binned sky and have gone over to a Humax box, so far so good :)

With the sky box I had a 'magic eye' setup so the cupboard door didn't have to be open all of the time, I'm after a similar cheap and tidy solution for the Humax now. With the box being sat in a cupboard along side the bluray player I wouldn't mind being able to control that via the same solution.

I've come across these ones that are buttons from here but from what I can make out you have to stick the emitter on the device you want to control... not very tidy at all, plus i'd have to buy more than one.

Is anyone using anything similar? Think with careful positioning a single emitter could cover all devices in a cupboard?

Thats going to be your cheaper option an ir extender for sure.
Or if you want to spend arouns £150 and get a global cache ir device and demopad (for example) for your ipone/ipad and do a bit of programming, so you can control everything from the devices?
We use xantech ir extenders as they seem the be the most reliable.

Just looking at the ones that you can get to go over hdmi, reasonably cheap and I don't use CRC anyway so that looks to be a winner :)

yeah i use triax hdmi baluns at home they have ir pass through but a tad expensive.
Just be careful with cheap and cheerful with hdmi baluns if that's what you mean anyway lol.
