Not sure how many people this will appeal to but yesterday I noticed this cheap development platform.

Texus Instruments are trying to get into the hobby micro market and are releasing a microcontroller development kit for just $4.30 and free shipping, just ordered one last night.

Im assuming they are not classed as competitors as they dont seem to sell anything ocuk does.

Sorry to sound clueless, but what can you do with this? :/
You could use it say for example if you were into home made rockets (probably the Launchpad thing putting the idea into my head) - could say program the rocket ignition, stage separation, parachute deployment etc into the microcontroller.

It looks good, but it'll have to be very good to topple the Arduino for the hobbyist's microcontroller demo kit of choice.

Oh sweet. For GCSE Systems and Control I had to make something similar to that. We had to have a PCB which monitored light or temperature and then change from a green LED to a red one if it was too hot/cold/light/dark. We used external LDRs and thermistors though. Quite cool stuff.
