I've been out of the loop of desktop building for a while, but am now looking to build a multi screen setup on the cheap for work.

I don't need much video power, just need to know what hardware I shall need.

So far I'm thinking 2 Nvidia 7300 cards 'cuz they're cheap - could I get a 4 monitor setup out of this?

What about motherboards? I'm guessing this will need to be SLi, right?

halp

Well yea, any card with 2 outputs should be fine, and then 2 of them linked by SLI should work.

Ive got an 7300LE (I think) and all the outputs on that are different... dont know if your bothered about that at all?

I would say you'd be better going for 2 8600GT cards. 2 in stock and going for £38, doesnt seem too bad

I know there are some cards with 4 outputs, but they're not going to be a cheap solution :p

Actually, after doing a bit more research (Ive never used more than 2 monitors myself), I dont think they have to be in SLI, just have 2 cards in there.

Would be better if sombody who has had 3 or 4 monitor setup could comment?

the matrox triple head is about £200 and it makes it so you you 1 output from your graphics card and spreads the resolution across the 3 monitors so you end up with a ridiculous resolution like 3600x1024 if it was on 17 inch monitors
