Hello guys,

Quick mission for you, my boys PC has started playing up again. I upgraded it with a new board, e6600 CPU, 8800GTX and some cheap PNY memory. Almost bought him a new PC some time ago but decided against it as he will just break it we all jumpin about he does around his bedroom.

Now, the 8800GTX died a while ago so he has made do with the on-board graphics. Now his computer is blue screening pretty much straight away with a 0x000000124 code, which going by google means some hardware is dead or overheating (no over heating, plenty of fans and cool air). Tried a clean re-install OS with no luck.

What 2nd hands part should I look out for on the market what are not too old but still work on this PC. I think the board is a p45? Or something similar. E6600 fits in it and it takes ddr3 memory.

What parts should I look out for around £100 all in: ram, graphics card and CPU and maybe a more modern PSU if we can get one in there.

Thanks

O, its an old one. Was a OcUK PSU, bet i bought it about 6-7 years ago. Never used it until about a year ago when i put in this PC after buying the CPU and GPU. Think its a 450w, pretty dated as you could imagine.

I did a test on the Memory. Forgot what it was called, you had to put it on a disk and boot the pc up and it does a load of test loops. Came back with no errors after a hour or 2. But i do want to upgrade this for him as it is only 2GB(1x2GB) and not that great.

XFX Pro series 450w £35, R7 240 for £40 and maybe a stick of whatever RAM you can get for £25?

Hello, sorry didn't see this.

Will the graphics card run stuff like minecraft, spore, football manager etc? Any ram you could recommend? I am really am useless when it comes to all the model and part numbers.

Thanks
