Hey guys,

Need to build a cheapo PC, just for running some laser software (nothing stressful), email and net access, on XP.

Have a HDD but need the rest of the base unit.

I havnt got a clue on how good the cheap Pentium's and celerons are, but I imagine any of them will be quicker than a MBP 2.26 C2D running XP in a virtual PC.
 
Well I was originally going to buy a ex-business 2.66 C2D for £85 + add more memory, so taking it to £100ish, so upto around £150, if thats even possible? Doesnt need any decent graphics as it wont ever play games, or have to play video.
 
You could still get budget AMD processors for around £50, even less if you get second hand, and AMD motherboards like ASRock are very cheap also, even rams not that expensive now. Im sure you could build an AMD system for less than £150.
