Needing a new long desk, more practical than stylish so cheaper equals better.

IKEA probably best. You can even mix and match different legs, drawers and table tops to make your own unique desk.

A couple of purple shirt stores getting refits should be doing cheap furniture right now; my one is doing 50% off all furniture to give you an idea; not all stores are getting refits imminently though.
