Just came across a conversation whereby some guy was asking a question Ihad been thinking about for a couple of weeks:

Does anybody know if there is an alternative solution to the MLP-75XF lens plate? To add this plate to the already clunky foot is everything else than an elegant solution and a real shame for such a great lens. As it seems to be not possible to change the lens collar itself, I noticed that it is possible to remove the foot from the collar. Now it would be nice, if there is an Arca Swiss compatible foot to add to the default lens collar, without having to add a separate plate on the foot.

Any ideas? 3rd Party?

Hi.
I use a simple plate from Peak Design and its perfect in my opinion :-)

Does anybody with a bit more knowledge about these things consider this a viable option using this plate on a Vanguard tripod with SBH100 head?

If I were you I'd just get the MLP-75XF plate and be done with it. I use it on the 50-140mm lens and it's fine. As far as I'm aware there are no third party solutions available right now ; even if there were you'd end up paying quite a bit for a marginal reduction in bulk.

It is a bit naughty of Fuji to supply the lens with a suboptimal foot/collar in the first place, but sadly most of the other camera manufacturers do the same ....

I just found this guy using the included (free plate) from Peak designs Slide it strap. I could do with a decent strap and this might kill two birds with one stone for the samw price: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8C-8WKB-Ps

What rig were you using to secure the lens and camera. I have this lens and the xt1 and was looking for some kind of strap to properly secure it down. Thanks for the review.

+Daniel It's the peak design slide strap. I attached one end to the camera and the other end to the tripod mount of the lens via a arca swiss plate (supplied with the strap). You also get the anchor links to attach the strap and quickly detach it when needed. It is by far my favourite strap.
