I bought a Hp 3630 series printer a few years ago, second hand and its the worst piece of sh## i have ever owned. The genuine inks dry out, the printer does not print at all if one of the cartridges is out, i cant seem to buy compatibles for it either, i did try buying a refilled cartridge off of ebay but it did not work.

Can anyone recommend a basic cheap printer that does not have these problems. Its unreal the stress this causes when the useless printer wont do the 1 basis task it was designed to do.

Get a laser. They last forever. Never clog up up or dry out. You can leave it years between uses and it works first time, every time.

Mines a Canon MF 3010 that must have been knocking around 10 years. My parents have a HP laserjet4l that's at least 20 years old and still fine.

i don't print much and i don't want to spend a lot on something i hardly use, i might use once a month to print a few pages

You can get a Brother HL-1110 A4 Mono Laser Printer for under £90 brand new. Google "Brother HL-1110 A4".

Get a second hand laser then
Honestly inkjets are not suited for occasional use - whereas lasers don't care
