cheapo PSU to get you through nesxt few months? i got a spare one, you can have for a tenner, u want a 400 or 350? :)

You can get a Hiper 350W PSU for £17.99Inc VAT. That will power your rig np. (Unless of course you have forgotten to list a load of components that your using which draw a large amount of current :p )

Good point lumocolor, It's ok untill you realise the 4xHDD, 3xDVD/RW, 8 fans, 24 USB devices, 500 Watt water pump, teasmade and toaster all add up to 1Kw. LOL but still a valid point.

The problem im faced with is ive kinda run out of "hobbie cash" at the mo so i need it to be as cheap as possible, but at the same time i dont want any problems with it, noise output will not be an issue and all ill be running is what ive posted at the top and maybe 2x 10,000RPM Hdds...

NeptuneUK i am interested if it will run what i have fine for now... and also it has to fit what i have (bearing in mind what board i have).

Hiper 350W PSU for £17.99Inc VAT sounds awesome if it will fit the bill, can anyone else confirm that this would run fine....

Cheers Guys!

I presume you are talking Raptors or SCSI? The power draw of these is really taking you into dangerous territory for 'cheapo' PSU's and your Asus A8n Deluxe surely needs a 24 pin ATX 2.0 PSU doesn't it?

If you skimp on the PSU, you may well lose the gamble. IMO you should buy only one of the HDD's and partition it! Then get a top PSU to power your current rig and the next and, probably, the next one after that as well! :)

Yes , my board needs ATX 2.0 PSU, i was also referring to raptors... maybe just the 37odd gig as OS drive and any decent 250 gig storage... the feedback from this thread has helped me respect and understand PSU's a lot more than i originally did (obviously:p) so ive decided on this

Seasonic S12 430W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-000-SS) @ £52.95 (£62.22 Including VAT at 17.5%)

It seems a decent PSU for £60... so now ive upped my budget, before i click buy, are there any others i should consider in that price bracket?

Many thanks for your input guys!

Seasonic are about the best, good choice ;)

I think you did the right thing ;)
These forums have helped me and still help me when I need the clarity to think things through before 'impulse' buying.

I would suggest you check the same sources in case you should find that a suitably partitioned WD SE16 320Gb Hdd would be the drive of choice and you may even be put off the Raptor but I doubt it. :D I have yet to try one in my rig despite many 'nearly' buys of 36, 74 and 150 variants. Some other part always seem to 'beg' harder for my hard earned (read scant) funds! :(
