Hi guys,

Friend wants to upgrade to a QuadCore for his video editing and encoding. The only thing he is set on is that he wants to have a Q6600 but unsure of anything else. Will likely use vista so 4gig of ram would also be in there.

Could anyone recommend me the cheapest (reliable) motherboard and graphics card to go with a Q6600 please? Literally only to be used for encoding and video editing, he is not a gamer.

Cheers

cheapest asus P5Q P45 chipset board

and read my guide in the sig for comprehensive graphics card advice

i encode on my platform using HD editing etc

it really is steps ahead of dual core

to be honest - you only need it clocked at 3GHz to get great results for encoding/editing

3.2 for games maybe as thats the sweetspot

Another reccomendation for the Asus P5Q Range, went with a Pro and dual core myself as dont do a lot of encoding n stuff.

GFX wise check rjk's sig, I think the recent mid range ATI cards may suit well.
