Cheap, really good gin.

Yea there's not much between Gordons and basics. And, if you're putting cheap tonic in (bar waitrose basic) then you're not going to see much difference.
Humour me, and go and buy some fever Tree tonic and try that. The drink will be much nicer. And if you can afford it, get some of the mentioned gin. But good tonic is a good place to start.

Never thought cardboard, I quite like it. Was what got me into gin.

I find the Bombay Gin's - Sapphire and Dry, over-rated - it's just a marketing exercise!

Brokers Gin is excellent (esp. the Export version @ 47%) if you can get past the cheap plastic bowler hat on the lid - which can be removed, clearly aimed at the Americans (and for the Asian markets, i guess) and their Stereotypical view of an English city gent - it is one of the smoothest Gin's i've drunk and has won a few awards and accolades

Sapphire is ok, but Dry is one of the worst gin's I've ever tried. Not tried Edinburgh, might have to give that a look, cheers.

I have just finished my Botanist and now have a bottle of Caorunn

going to a gin festival on saturday in newcastle which should be interesting to see whats out there

Drank a whole bottle of Botanist neat a couple of years ago (was stuck on an island with nowhere to buy tonic!). Went down pretty well and the hangover was completely symptomless apart from the purest, most excruciating headache I've ever had in my life.

Get down to Sainsbury's - they seem to have offers on a few of their Gin offerings!

Just got 70cl of Greenalls for £10 - (i think a ltr is £15)

Also there are deals on Bombay Sapphire and Bombay Dry (around £18 if i remember correctly)

I think thats just me all over though, I like big powerful red wines, heavily sherried whiskies and spicy food. it needs to kick me in the face so to speak

they had one called ancient mariner at 50% ABV...blew my socks off, but to wasn't what I would call a relaxing drop so didn't get a bottle...yet!
